Growing up, my grandfather would come and stay with us for a week during the month of December. He lived by himself, and every year, we spent days baking Christmas cookies because we knew how much he loved them. It didn’t matter the kind-he loved them all. One day, when I was getting ready for school, my mom came in the room and said “What’s this?” She was holding a bowl of butter. I had no idea-I was busy putting on makeup. “Why is this in the microwave?” SUDDENLY-I realized I had forgotten to put the butter in the cookies I made the night before. I had softened it, and immediately forgot about it. Grandpa, being grandpa, insisted they were still excellent, but I have to believe that wasn’t true. LOL. Since then, my baking skills have dramatically improved, and I have never again forgotten the butter.
MY GIFT TO YOU
In the spirit of Christmas, my gift to you (because let’s be honest, it’s a bit late for tips to save money at the holidays-and I’m not sure how many people listen to those anyway)- are some of my favorite Christmas cookie recipes.
I have made TONS of different cookie recipes over the years, and these always stand the test of time. They are all easy, none of them are my own, and I hope you love them!
- Oreo Truffles-my son made these last night. Always a fan favorite and super easy. 3 ingredients. (Pro tip: I always use Almond Bark -not semi-sweet chocolate- to melt when I make these. You can buy it at WalMart or Kroger. It’s really easy to work with.
