WHY BEING LAZY STEALS YOUR MONEY AND PROFITS OTHERS

I recently went through the very painful process of finding new insurance.  My daughter turned 16, and although I bundled my home and car insurance, when I added her, I felt like the price went through the roof.  I knew I could do better.  I also knew it was right up there with pulling teeth to make myself want to start researching.  It’s such a painful process-deciding who to call, what to ask for, answering their 9 million questions, with no guarantee that the rates would be better.

There is a decent chance I may not have bothered, had my current company, not made me mad.  When I asked to unbundle home and auto (thinking I will just go elsewhere for auto), they increased my home insurance by $500.  It really made me mad.  I had been with them over 15 years, and never filed claims.  Sometimes being mad is the motivation we need to do the painful thing.  (If you have ever had Spectrum, this might be your experience.  lol).

I started calling around, went with 2 different companies in the end, and ended up saving over $500 annually than I would have- had I stayed with my current company, Erie Insurance.  (The ones that made the most sense for me were Progressive and Auto Owners).

What are you being lazy about that is taking your $$$?

Most people have similar situations, even if it doesn’t involve insurance.  A great one to consider is what you are paying on tv and internet.  Spectrum has made tons of people mad, and I think people who can get rid of them, are.  The never-ending price increases seem to take their toll.

However, many of us are now paying way more for streaming services then we ever intended.  How many are you using?  Regularly?  What would it look like if you only kept one or 2 at the moment, and then when an amazing show started on a new service, you just signed up then?  Most are month to month and many have free trials.  I’ve been known to watch a new series/season in a free 7 day trial, and I’m pretty sure I am not alone.

Reducing fixed expenses is the key to making money and generating wealth.  Even if it doesn’t seem like it (“It’s only $12 a month!”)  When you are applying this logic in all areas of your life, it starts to add up in a significant way, and most times, you don’t even notice what you have cut.  It’s like free money is there for the taking, if we just weren’t being so lazy about it.

Have a comment about being lazy-or about NOT being lazy and going through the pain to financially benefit???  We want to hear about it!
